In 1775, King Charles III of Spain conferred the title of Marqués de Sonora on José Gálvez, who was known for his efficient administration of the Mexican Colonial Empire and splendid management of the Mexican silver mines. In his honor, the Mexican Bureau of Mines prepared this resolution, confirmed and signed by King Charles III, to bestow 4000 pesos annually for life on José Gálvez and his descendents.
